Braille and speech
The ALVA Delphi braille display presents the information on your screen not
only in braille but also in speech. With an optimal interaction between braille
and speech, you work faster, more efficiently and more accurately. Should you
work with Windows, the speech synthesizer tells you how to navigate. The braille
display shows you what is on the screen. For reading a large piece of text, the
speech synthesizer is available to you. For checking the spelling of words, you
can benefit from the precision of braille.
Extensions
When so desired, the ALVA Delphi braille display can be combined with the
ALVA Keypad and ALVA Spacepad. These offer extra user ease and greater screen
overview information. With the ALVA Feelme program, the text from the braille
display can be made visible on a second computer. Sighted people can then follow
exactly what you are reading on the braille display which facilitates optimal
instruction and guidance.
Double touch cursors
Depending on the Delphi model selected, you can read forty or eighty
characters. The ease of using the braille display is increased with the
provision of a double row of touch cursors. With the first row of touch cursors,
you quickly and effectively steer the mouse. With the second row of touch
cursors, you activate the speech synthesizer which provides supplemental
information with regard to the text on your screen. You hear, for example, which
letter type and print color are being used, when a particular menu item has been
selected and whether the text has been underlined so that hyper-links can be
easily selected.
Flexible
The ALVA Delphi does not depend on a particular operating system. This means
that many different applications can be utilized without problem and without
having to adapt your hardware. In combination with the braille display, you can
employ a wide range of graphic screen readers in addition to the MS DOS screen
readers: ALVA's outSPOKEN for Windows (of course) but also Jaws, Virgo, Protalk,
SWB, Visiobraille and SRD/2. Whether you want to write a letter with Word, make
a calculation with Excel or surf the Internet with Netscape...it can all be done
with the ALVA Delphi. In short, you make a clear investment in the future with
