Braille displays that put you in the middle of the action

The ALVA Satellite braille displays feature the most enhanced ergonomic design to date. This extends the navigation and operation possibilities of most popular screen readers, and increases productivity dramatically. With twin satellite key pads, double touch cursors, three status cells, and activation of speech feedback from the braille display, the ALVA Satellite braille displays allow you to be twice as productive, twice as creative and have twice as much fun when working with computers. Together with a USB connection and an internal power adapter, these features of the ALVA Satellite take you beyond the earthly standards of today...

Twin Satellite Key Pads

The most charming new feature of the ALVA Satellite braille displays are the twin satellite key pads. Using these keys on your braille display, you can, for example, easily navigate through complex graphic screens and give instructions for speech feedback without moving your hands to the computer keyboard. Higher efficiency and productivity is the immediate result. The braille display's hardware can, of course, be configured according to your personal preferences. You have the option to switch the functionality of the left and right satellite keypads to suit your personal needs.

Double Touch Cursor

The silicone pad-switched double touch cursor above each braille cell represent the ultimate integration of braille and speech feedback. Using the first row of touch cursor switches, you can position the screen cursor exactly at the braille cell's position. When using an ALVA Satellite braille display together with a speech synthesizer, the second row of touch cursor switches are used to ask for speech feedback about text attributes or the graphic at cursor position. In a Windows environment the double touch cursor switches can be used to simulate left and right mouse clicks.

Flexible Status Cell Definition

Depending on the screen reader software, three status cells provide additional information about text attributes in the reading cells, the braille display focus position on the screen, and icon attributes. It is possible to have the status cells of an ALVA Satellite braille display positioned on the left or on the right side of the braille display, or to switch to a display mode in which all braille cells are used for reading.

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Connection

With an inbound USB port and two outbound USB ports, the ALVA Satellite braille displays are fully equipped for the newest PCs and ready for the peripherals of tomorrow. With the plug-and-play capabilities of the USB ports, you can connect an ALVA Satellite braille display to a computer without having to reset the computer or the braille display.

Integrated Power Adapter

You will not need an external power adapter to use an ALVA Satellite braille display. You can plug an appropriate power cable into the display to experience ALVA's excellence in braille anywhere in the world.

No limits in operation

Like all ALVA braille displays, the Satellite braille display follow the Open Standard philosophy, meaning it will work beautifully with just about every popular operating system, graphical screen reader, computer system and speech synthesizer. The technical design and function key layout of the ALVA Satellite braille displays are optimized for a graphic computer screen environment.

Serviceability

Any maintenance or repair of an ALVA Satellite braille display can be quickly addressed. The modular assembly of the electronics within the braille display makes the replacement of particular parts very easy. The Satellite braille displays come with CE safety guarantee and fulfill the requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test.
