Optimizing JFW 3.2 in WIN98.
When in Windows Explorer or on your Desktop:
- Press INSERT+F2 to open the Configuration Manager. This will open the shdocvw.jcf file.
- From the Set Options Menu, DOWN ARROW to the Graphics and Symbols option and select.
- Tab to the Graphics Mode checkbox and uncheck the box. Tab to the OK button and press
ENTER.
- Press CTRL+S to save the file.
- Press SHIFT+CTRL+D to open your default file.
- From the Set Options menu, DOWN ARROW to Synthesizer Options and select.
- Tab to the Allow Wave Files with Software Synthesizers check box and use the SPACEBAR to
check the box.
- Tab to the OK button and press ENTER
Save your file. Press CTRL+S. This will stop the occasional stuttering heard with
software synthesizers on Windows 98, even on fast machines.
What to change on Windows 98:
- From the Start Menu, select Settings.
- Select Control Panel from the Settings menu.
- When in the Control Panel, open the View menu, Press ALT+V and make sure that View as
Web Page is unchecked.
- Select Display from the list of icons in the Control Panel
- Then select the Web Tab. Uncheck View as Web Page.
- On the Effects tab, uncheck the Animate windows, desktop and menus checkbox.
- Press OK and close the Control Panel.
As you navigate, you should see an increase in speed and navigability with Jaws.
- Select Start|Settings|Folder Options.
- From the three radio buttons, select Classic and press OK. This will allow My Computer
and other icons to display in the traditional Win95/NT fashion.
