Henter-Joyce Technical Support Notice #5 (TSN-5)
Subject: JFW caused an Invalid Page Fault in DTE.JLS @ 0137:01b23f0
Henter-Joyce Product: JAWS for Windows 3.0
Category: Windows 95
June 25, 1998
- The subject error may occur under the following conditions:
- Installed Dectalk Express (Win95 and NT)
- Running JFW 3.0
- Dectalk Express is connected and turned on
- DECTalk Express connected to a com port different than selected during the install
OR
- Perform steps 1 thru 3 above and the DECTalk drivers supplied by DEC are loading from
the autoexec.bat
This error does not occur when you either have the Dectalk Express connected to the
correct port or do not have the express connected at all.
Solution:
- Make sure that your Dectalk Express is connected to the com port you specified during
the installation, or reinstall your software and select the com port on which JFW 3.0 was
installed.
- Make sure that you do not have the Dectalk Express drivers loading when your computer
starts. This only applies to Windows 95 users.
From the Start Menu, select the "Shut Down" option.
Select the "Restart the Computer" radio button with your arrow keys or by
pressing r.
Press enter, and your computer will reboot.
If you hear one of the following messages you have the Dectalk Express drivers loading:
"Dectalk Version 4.xx is running", or "Dectalk Express is connected running
4.xx".
The message you get may vary, but this is not the self-test message you hear when you
first turn on the Dectalk Express synthesizer itself.
To rectify the situation, you must edit your autoexec.bat file and remark the lines
added by the Dectalk Express Driver installation. If you do not know how to do this,
please either call Henter-Joyce Technical Support or have a local technician assist you
with this.
The lines to delete or remark are:
cd c:\dtexp
call dtexp.bat
