The default font for the Dragon NaturallySpeaking editor is something like Courier 10.  Since this is such an ugly font, I start every demo or dictation session with the commands "Select Line" then "Set Font Arial 12".  The command "Select Line" ensures that you are selecting that hidden character which ends the paragraph.  This ensures that the font change will stick if you say, for example, "Go to Bottom of Document" and then start dictating.

Starting with version 2.02 of all three variants of NatSpeak, it is possible to change the default font from Courier 10 to something else.  There is no interface for this, you have to change the registry.

The magic registry variables to change are:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dragon Systems\NaturallySpeaking\Personal 2.0\Users\Customer\Settings]
"Default Font"="Arial"
"Default Font Size"="240"

Don't forget to change the edition name and the user name to match your configuration.  For example:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dragon Systems\NaturallySpeaking\Deluxe 2.0\Users\Joel Gould\Settings]
"Default Font"="Arial"
"Default Font Size"="240"

The font name should match a font on your system.  Arial is what I usually use.  The font size value is 20 time the point size.  If you want a 12 point font then use a default font size of 240.
