The Dragon NaturallySpeaking Unofficial Information Pages were developed using a tool called Trellix (version 2.0), from the Trellix Corp. in Waltham Massachusetts. Trellix allows you to design a web site which is optimized for it easy navigation and modification. (See http://www.trellix.com/ for more information.) At the top of the screen, in a re-sizable frame, is the site map for the NatSpeak InfoPages. You can drag the bottom border down to reveal the entire site map, or drag it up to hide it. NORMAL NAVIGATION To the left of every page is a frame which lists all the other pages in the same sequence. You can quickly move around each sequence by clicking on the short title of the page you want to see. The current page will always be highlighted in bold. Many top-level pages will have a list of all the pages under them in their body. You can select any of the sub-pages from the list and then return to the top-level page by clicking "up level" on any of the sub-pages. Note: the frame to the left of every page will contain the date that the page being viewed was last revised. Also, for certain pages, I will indicate which to versions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking the text applies. USING THE SITE MAP In the site map, you can see the layout of the entire set of InfoPages. Each pages represented by a white rectangle. If you move the mouse over a rectangle, then the title of that page will appear at the bottom of your Web browser. (This seems to work great in Netscape but in Internet Explorer 3.0, you only get the number of the web page that your mouse is over.) Click on a rectangle to display that page. When you view any page, the location of that page in the site map will be highlighted. This makes it easy to see where you are. (This was a new feature of version 2.0 of Trellix.) The InfoPages site is organized into a number of different areas, each of which are highlighted as colored rectangles on the site map. Within each area, there is a linear sequence of pages, with optional additional sub-pages. The site begins at the welcome page which is on the top left-hand side of the site map. From the welcome page, you can navigate across and down either using the site map or using the links embedded in each page. OFFLINE NAVIGATION AND PRINTING To make it easy to view this site off-line and print it, I have included the source for this entire site as a Trellix document. You will need two pieces. First, download the Trellix 2.0 view from the Trellix web page (http://support.trellix.com/) and install it according to the directions. Second, download the Trellix source for this site as natspeak.tlx. (Warning: as of 10/3/98 this file was just under 3 megabytes and growing.) With these two pieces, you should be able to browse this site off-line. You can also print any or all of the pages from this site easily using the Trellix viewer. |
