Users simply select a word, phrase, or picture on the overlay to make the computer speak. Corresponding pictures of nouns or verbs appear on the screen. Versatile teaching tools These programs offer a variety of activities that reinforce vocabulary comprehension, teach the formation of grammatically correct sentences, improve visual discrimination, and develop conversational turn-taking. Talking Nouns I and Talking Nouns II also provide practice in noun categorization. Collaborative learning These programs are ideal for fostering collaborative learning and communication between peers. For individuals who are nonvocal, this series can be used as an introduction to augmentative communication.
