| Talking Nouns I, Talking Nouns II,
and Talking Verbs The Talking Series is designed to build expressive language
and augmentative communication skills. They complement First Words, First Words II, and
First Verbs by developing the active use of the nouns and verbs trained in those programs.
Each program includes a plastic overlay that slides over the TouchWindow or IntelliKeys (a
Power Pad version is also available for the Apple IIe). Students press a word, phrase, or
picture on the overlay to make their computer speak, with corresponding pictures appearing
on the monitor screen.
TalkTime with Tucker TalkTime with Tucker is a voice activated program that encourages young children and
individuals with speech impairments to vocalize. When a child talks or makes sounds into
the microphone, an animated character named Tucker moves and talks. Unlike voice
recognition programs that require precise and accurate speech input, this program accepts
a broad range of sounds and/or speech to make Tucker come alive. Five activities - On
Stage, On the Farm, A Walk in the Woods, Fantasyland, and Let's Talk - accommodate a wide
range of children at different functioning levels.
