TEACHERS TOOLKIT
The teacher toolkit allows teachers and trainers to set up Read &
Write (V8.1) to suit individual needs. The tool kit can only be accessed
by authorized users.
From here it is possible to:
- Enable or disable the various features of Read & Write (V8.1) a
particular student has access to. For example, spell checking may be
seen as providing an advantage within an exam or assessment. This
can be turned off for the exam and allow the student to still have
the other features available, for example the text to speech. By
having the ability to switch off these feature the student can still
be independent whilst taking the assessment.
- Set up new users.
- View and clear student spelling logs. The spelling log provides
a list of recent corrections that a particular student has made.
- View and clear student activity logs. The activity log lists
information such as; duration the program was used, number of words
typed, number of errors, percentage of errors and any new words that
have been learned.
Using the Teacher Toolkit
To access the teacher toolkit click on Start on the Windows desktop
and from the Programs menu select the textHELP programs menu. Select
Teacher Tools. This will open the Teachers Tool panel:

Here you can set up and edit the feature sets or privileges
profiles and assign them to users as you add them to the system.
To add a new user click on the User Settings tab. Here you can add new
users and assign them a Feature Set.

To view the spelling log of a user click on the Spelling Logs tab.

Select the User who’s spelling log you wish to view and this will
appear in the right hand panel. This can be viewed and printed from MS
Word.
To view the activity log of a user click on the Activity Logs tab.

Select the User who’s activity log you wish to view and this will
appear in the right hand panel. This can be viewed and printed from MS
Word.
