textHELP!® Screenreader: Choosing a Character

This is the Characters tab. Click here to view the Adjust Voice tab. Click here to view the Pronunciation tab. Click here to view the Screen Reading tab. Click here to view the Hot Keys tab. Click here to view the Speech Balloon tab. Select this ckeck box if you want to have your animated character hidden. Select your animated character from the drop down list. Select the size of your character from this list. You can select from a wide range of voices from this list.  Each voice can have its Pitch, Speed and Volume adjusted. Click this button to hear a sample of the selected voice. This is the Characters tab.

 

This is where you choose the character your prefer (or not) to use whilst text is being spoken. There are four optional animated characters to choose from Merlin the Wizard, Peedy the Parrot, Robbie the Robot and Genie. You can change the size of the character and pick which of the voices to use.

If you prefer you can have the character hidden off screen. Also you can adjust the way the text in the speech balloon appears.

More characters: textHELP!® Screenreader is provided with four characters. You can download new characters from the Internet. (Typically 1-3 MB in size)

Microsoft Agent Characters are available in several formats. textHELP!® Screenreader uses ACS files. If you download any new character files, you should copy the file into the Characters folder, which is inside the ScreenReader folder.

NB Unfortunately we are unable to provide technical support for the characters which are downloaded from elsewhere in the Internet.
