If you want to
adjust the way a word is spoken you can do so from this tab found
within the speech options.
This feature is
useful if from time to time textHELP!®
Screenreader does not pronounce a word the way you want it
spoken. You may find this to be the case with uncommon words which
don’t sound the way you might expect if you were to base the sound
purely on the letters and syllables in the word. To add a word simply
type the word in the "Pronounce This" box e.g. Massachusetts
and then in the "Like This" box spell the word phonetically
i.e. massa-chu-sits. By clicking on the speaker button you can see
what it will sound like. Click on the save to have the word pronounced
correctly from now on.
You can also use
this feature to vocalize punctuation marks. E.G. you may want textHELP!®
Screenreader to say “forward slash” when it encounters a
“/” symbol in a website address.
