SCANNING
WordSmith allows you to scan any paper document into Word 97/2000/XP.
You can then edit and have the scanned material read to you. This will
allow you to read faster and have a greater comprehension of what is
being said. The incorporation of scanning offers a greater degree of
flexibility by inserting paper documentation into a familiar editing
environment. Once changes have been made, you can make the Word document
available to other Microsoft Word Users. This is key to inclusive
education and integration in today's world.
WordSmith also has the option to scan into Internet Explorer. This
will allow "near perfect" image generation. The scanned document can
then be read to you and the words highlighted within Internet Explorer
to increase word recognition. You can choose to have a pre-selected
style applied to the scanned document to enable you to read the document
easier.
How to Scan with WordSmith:
To choose which scanning option to use, select Scanning Options from
the textHELP drop down list. The Scanning Option window will be
displayed.
From here you can then choose:
to scan from a document in your scanner or from a
saved image.
select a scanner from the Scanner Device drop
down list.
select which format you want the resulting scan
to be displayed in:
Word and retain all formatting including columns
Word and retain graphics but ignore column formatting
Word and just import text
Internet Explorer and display exact page image
Internet Explorer and display text only and use your own font/color
preferences. To scan a document, simply click on the Scanner icon in
Wordsmith's tool bar.
