SPEECH
WordSmith will read text as you type. It will read each word, sentence,
paragraph or selected text. There is a choice of 31 different voices to
choose from including British and American accents. The voice can also
be adjusted to suit you by altering the pitch, speed, volume and/or word
pause.
There is also the option to have an animated characters to accompany
you (Merlin, Peedy, Genie, Robbie):
By hearing your work read you will be able to identify mistakes in
punctuation, spelling and meaning.
Speech can also be used with any of the other features of WordSmith.
For example, with the thesaurus, meanings and sample sentences can be
read to ensure complete understanding.
How to Read with WordSmith
To have WordSmith read each word, sentence or paragraph simply select
the option from the drop down list on the WordSmith toolbar.
Place the cursor in the word, sentence or paragraph that you want
read and click Play button
To stop speech simply click the Stop button on the WordSmith toolbar.
To read selected text simply highlight the text and click on the
Speak button.
Speech can be adjusted under Speech Options found in the textHELP
drop down list.
The Speech Properties panel has a number of tabs from which you can
adjust the voice to suit your taste:
From the Speech Properties Panel you can:
adjust voice settings by pitch, speed, volume and
word pause.
choose a character and voice.
specify how words are pronounced.
set up screen reading.
set up speech balloons to appear when speaking.
