THESAURUS

WordSmith has an enhanced thesaurus to increase your literacy and creative writing skills. It allows you to find alternative suggestions for words and provides an audible definition and sample sentence for each selected word.

By providing an advanced thesaurus with descriptions and sample sentences that can be read to aid choice, WordSmith provides the means for increasing vocabulary.

How to use the thesaurus

To use the thesaurus, click inside the word that you want to check and click on the Thesaurus button. This will bring up the thesaurus window.

From here select the appropriate radio button to specify whether the word is a noun, verb, adjective or adverb. A list of alternatives will appear and by selecting each word a description and sample sentence will be shown.

These can be spoken by clicking on the Speak button. Once you have picked a replacement it is simply a matter of clicking on the Replace button.
WordSmith can also look for partial word matches by clicking on the Part Word button. This will bring up a text box (see below) displaying all words or short phases that include your specified word.
 

To place any of these words into your document double click on it.
